Job Specification

To develop culinary skills will working in entry level cook position. Culinary Internship staff are entry-level professionals who are gaining hands-on experience in recipe formulations, menu development, and daily kitchen operations. Preparing meals as ordered. Responsible for the preparation of all food items ensuring a high standard of taste, temperature and preparation.


Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares one part of a major meal such as an entrée, vegetable, salad or dessert, in proper quantities for serving; measures, mixes, seasons, garnishes and otherwise prepares dish.
  • Assists in the preparation of several parts of a major meal by mixing and stirring, ladling, adjusting heat, etc.
  • Prepares breakfasts on an independent basis by cooking eggs and meat, and preparing cereals, coffee and similar items.
  • Stock work station with appropriate mise in place for each shift to be ready for service or banquet following par lists.
  • Date all food containers and rotate as per the SOP, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
  • Create prep list and requisitions for daily prep and storeroom needs.
  • Sets up station according to catering and event guidelines.
  • Cleans and maintains station in practicing good safety, sanitation, organizational skills.
  • Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by the Executive Chef.
  • Deep clean work areas following sanitation guidelines during and at end of shift.
  • Ensure quality and safety of food by performing standard and any additional sanitary measures including sweeping of the floors, cleaning of surfaces, as well as proper covering and storage of food items according to standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and volunteer to fill open shifts as required by variations in staffing.
  • Follow proper reporting procedures for accidents and incidents to ensure follow-up and prevention.
  • Adhere to all regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials and fire safety.
  • Serve food in the proper portion size and at the proper temperature.
  • Report any infraction in the food services department policies and procedures.
  • Arrive to work at the scheduled time.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
